Talking back to your baby
To comfort your baby you can talk to it from the Parent unit. To use the
talk-back facility:
• Set up both units as described in the previous chapter for monitoring
baby sounds.
• Switch on the loudspeaker of the Baby unit (1-5) using the Volume
On/Off control (1-6) and adjust it to about mid-range (level 5).
• Press and hold the Talk pushbutton (2-10) on the Parent unit and
talk clearly into the microphone (2-2).
• Release the Talk button when you are finished.
Whatever you say is transmitted from the Parent unit and can be heard on
the Baby unit loudspeaker. Adjust the volume of the Baby unit loudspeaker
(1-5) to the level you prefer using the Volume On/Off control (1-6) on the
Baby unit.
Note
While the Talk button on the Parent unit is pushed in, the signal from
the Baby unit cannot be heard on the loudspeaker of the Parent unit.
Two-way Intercom
When your child grows older or when you are not monitoring your baby,
you can use the Baby Monitor as a two-way intercom. To do this, set up
the units as you did for talking back to your baby. Now switch off the
monitoring function by setting the Transmit On/Off switch (1-8) on the
Baby unit to Off.
To use the Parent unit as an intercom:
• Press and hold the Talk pushbutton (2-10) on the Parent unit and
talk clearly into the microphone (2-2).
• Release the Talk button when you are finished.
To use the Baby unit as an intercom:
• Press and hold the Talk pushbutton (1-4) on the Baby unit and talk
clearly into the microphone (1-1).
• Release the Talk button when you are finished.
Note
While the Talk button on either unit is pushed in, a signal from the
other unit cannot be heard. In other words, only one person should
speak at a time.

Unité Parents
L’unité parents utilise des piles rechargeables. Elles sont déjà installées,
mais doivent - avant toute première utilisation - être chargées pendant au
moins 12 heures comme suit:
• raccordez l’adaptateur c.a. (2-14) à une prise électrique domestique
standard, puis raccordez le cordon de l’adaptateur c.a. au jack
d’alimentation c.c. (2-13) du chargeur (2-8).
• placez l’unité parents dans le chargeur; le témoin rouge (2-1) du
chargeur s’allume.
A présent, on peut utiliser l’unité parents. Mais il est préférable de la laisser
sur son chargeur, pour que les piles soient bien rechargées (12 à 14
heures). Quand elle est sur le chargeur, cette unité fonctionne en c.a.. S’il y
a une panne de c.a., les piles prennent le relais.
Dès que les piles sont pleinement chargées, l’unité parents peut être retirée
du chargeur et utilisée sans fil pendant un maximum de 12 heures.
Chargement des piles
Le témoin rouge d’alimentation (2-3) de l’unité parents clignote quand les
batteries deviennent faibles.
NB
Pour augmenter la longévité des piles, veillez à ce qu’elles soient
totalement plates avant de les recharger.
Il est très facile de recharger les piles rechargeables en utilisant comme suit
le chargeur:
• Vérifiez si l’adaptateur c.a. est raccordé au chargeur.
• Disposez l’unité parents sur son chargeur; les piles commencent à se
recharger (le témoin rouge sur le chargeur est allumé).
Des piles totalement déchargées sont pleinement rechargées en quelque 12
à 14 heures.
