IP Settings fields
TheIPSettingseldsprovidealocationforviewingandeditingsettingsunique
to the Ethernet interface. After editing any of the settings on this page, click the
Submit button at the bottom of the page.
Unit Name eld
TheUnitNameeldcontainsthenameusedasthe“from”informationwhenthe
switcher e-mails notification of its failed or repaired status. This name field can be
changedtoanyvalidname,upto24alphanumericcharacters.

The following characters are invalid in the matrix name:
+ ~ , @ = ‘ [ ] { } < > ’ “ ; : | \ and ?.
DHCP radio buttons
The DHCP OnradiobuttondirectstheswitchertoignoreanyenteredIPaddresses
andtoobtainitsIPaddressfromaDynamicHostCongurationProtocol(DHCP)
server(ifthenetworkisDHCPcapable).TheDHCP OffradiobuttonturnsDHCP
off.ContactthelocalsystemadministratortodetermineifDHCPisappropriate.
IP Address eld
TheIPAddresseldcontainstheIPaddressoftheconnectedswitcher.Thisvalue
is encoded in the switcher’s flash memory.
ValidIPaddressesconsistoffour1-,2-,or3-digitnumericsubelds,properlycalled
octets,separatedbydots(periods).Eacheldcanbenumberedfrom000through
255.Leadingzeroes,upto3digitstotalpereld,areoptional.Valuesof256and
above are invalid.
Thefactory-installeddefaultaddressis192.168.254.254,butifthisconictswith
other equipment at your installation, you should ask your network administrator
for a new, valid address.

IP address changes can cause conflicts with other equipment. Only local system
administrators should change IP addresses.
Gateway IP Address eld
TheGatewayIPAddresseldidentiestheaddressofthegatewaytothemail
server to be used if the switcher and the mail server are not on the same subnet.
ThegatewayIPaddresshasthesamevalidityrulesasthesystemIPaddress.
Subnet Mask eld
TheSubnetMaskeldisusedtodeterminewhethertheswitcherisonthesame
subnet as the mail server when you are subnetting. For more information, see
“Subnetting—APrimer”,inappendixA,“EthernetConnection”.
MAC Address eld
TheMediaAccessControl(MAC)Addressishardcodedintheswitcherandcannot
be changed.
Firmware eld
The Firmware field identifies the installed firmware version. This field is
hardcoded in the switcher and cannot be changed.
Model and Part Number elds
TheModelandPartNumbereldsidentifytheswitcher.Theseeldsare
hardcoded in the switcher and cannot be changed.
