voice, set [Mic Sense] to [Low] and hold
recorder’s built-in stereo microphone close to
the speaker’s mouth (5-10 cm) when recording.

Menu setting method
Rec Mode A
The recorder supports the Linear PCM recording
format, which allows sound to be recorded with
a quality equivalent to CD or higher, and the MP3
format, which allows files to be saved with a high
compression ratio. This means you can choose to give
priority to either sound quality or recording time.
1 Select the recording format.
[PCM]:
This is an uncompressed audio format which
is used for music CDs and the like.
[MP3]:
MPEG is the international standard
established by a working group of the
ISO (International Organization for
Standardization).
2 Select the recording rate.
When [PCM] is selected:
[96 kHz/24 bit] to [44.1 kHz/16 bit]
When [MP3] is selected:
[320 kbps] to [128 kbps]
Notes
When the recording format is set to the MP3
formats, the sampling rate will be encoded and
processed at 44.1 kHz.
When a high recording rate setting is used
the file capacity will increase. Make sure that
the amount of memory remaining is sufficient
before recording.
When the recorder is in movie mode, the [
Rec
Mode] setting will not be affected. To set the
recording mode, set the [Image Quality] setting
in [Recording Settings] while in movie mode
( P.68).
