Configuring the Switch as a VTP Client
To configure the Catalyst 4500 series switch as a VTP client, perform this task:
This example shows how to configure the switch as a VTP client:
Switch# configuration terminal
Switch(config)# vtp mode client
Setting device to VTP CLIENT mode.
Switch(config)# exit
Switch#
This example shows how to verify the configuration:
Switch# show vtp status
VTP Version : 2
Configuration Revision : 247

Command Purpose
Step 1
Switch# configuration terminal
Enters configuration mode.
Step 2
Switch(config)# [no] vtp mode client
Configure the switch as a VTP client.
Use the no keyword to return to the default setting (server
mode).
Step 3
Switch(config)# end
Exits configuration mode.
Step 4
Switch# show vtp status
Verifies the configuration.
