1. Toengagewheellock‐pushthewheellockhandleforward.
2. Todisengagewheellock‐pullthewheellockhandleback.

1. Disengagethewheellocks.RefertoUsingPatientOperatedWheelLocksonpage 36.
2. Loosenthetwosocketscrewsthatsecurethewheellocktothewheelchairframe(Detail“C”).
3. Repositionthewheellocksothatwhenengaged,thewheellockshoeembedsthetire1/8‐inch(3/16‐inchforpneumatic
tires)andholdstheoccupiedwheelchairinplacewhenpushed(Detail“B”).
4. Securely
tightenthetwosocketscrewssecuri ngthewheellocktothewheelchairframe.
5. Engagethewheellock.
6. MeasurethedistancethewheellockisembeddedintothetireasshowninFIGURE 9.2onpage37.
NOTE:Anywheellockadjustmentshouldembedthewheellockshoeatleast1/8‐inch(3/16‐inch
ifpneumatictire)intothetirewhen
engaged.
7. RepeatSTEPS1‐6untilthewheellockshoeembedsthetire1/8‐inch(3/16‐inchforpneumatictires)andholdsthe
occupiedwheelchairinplacewhenpushed.
