Turn capscrews {Ref 13 -
two places} until minimum
backlash is obtained, then
lock by tightening the
locknut {Ref 14} against
plate {REf 12}. Torque nut
{Ref 14} to 13-19 ft. lbs.
Apply anti-sieze
compound to inside
of bushing {Ref 15}
if shaft {Ref 5} is
not plated.
Torque nut
{Ref 18} to
26-39 ft. lbs.
Timing marks on pinion
{Ref 21} and bevel gear
{Ref 17} must be in line.
Do NOT brush grease
on tooth surfaces at
gear or pinion.
Torque nut
{Ref 23} to
40-60 ft. lbs.
Torque nut
{Ref 32} to
40-60 ft. lbs.
Align length of drag link assembly
{Ref 29} by positioning end ball joint
so that front wheels will be in straight
ahead position when the timing
marks on the steering pinion and
gear are aligned.
