5 The metal piece that the blue foot lock pedal attaches to is locked onto the bar with a pin that is supposed to slide when you unlock the foot lock pedal. After a long duration of being locked in the same position, the locking pin can stick...locking the width of the gate even after the foot pedal is unlocked. I took a flat bladed screwdriver and placed it down the side of the mechanism and onto the edge of the pin and gave it a tap with a hammer which released the pin allowing full adjustment.

4 I forgot to tell you to choose "Services and Info" then choose Customer service then type "gate instructions 79151"...sorry

4 There is a printable instruction sheet for "step lock gate" number 79151 on the Fisher Price website. In the search box, type "instruction sheets gate" or something similar. I was able to print the instructions for the gate. To change the width: Turn the gate upside down. There is a pin on a taper slide that got stuck on ours. My husband had to loosen it up with a screwdriver and put WD40 on it to keep it sliding.

1 After 3 days I figured it out. Take a screwdriver and pop up the metal pieces under the blue lever. If you look close you can see where it can be moved. I hope this helps.
