30 Second Digital Thermometer with
beeper, memory and high temperature alarm.
Before using your new thermometer please read
and follow instructions to insure most accurate
body temperature readings. Information herein
and product are not meant to be a substitute for
the advice provided by a medical professional.
Normal Body Temperature fluctuates during the
course of a day and depends on location of
temperature reading. The generally accepted
"normal" body temperature is 98.6°F(37.0°C) for
oral. An axillary or underarm reading is usually is
1.0°F (0.5°C) lower 97.6°F (36.4°C) and a rectal
temperature is usually 1.0°F higher (0.5°C) 99.6°F
(37.5°C). Body temperature readings tend to be
lowest in the morning hours from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m.
while your body is resting and is highest during
late afternoon hours from 4 p.m. because your
body has been active throughout the day.
Prior to each use clean the thermometer with a
soft cloth moistened with rubbing alcohol (70%
isopropyl alcohol) diluted with warm water, OR
wash with cold, soapy water. An intact unit can be
submersed in 50% water and 50% alcohol;
however do not soak for an extended period of
time. Be sure to dry thermometer thoroughly using
soft cloth.
To make temperature taking more hygienic and to
help prevent cross-contamination it is
recommended to use Samsung Disposable Probe
Covers (model # TSP-001) each time temperature
is taken.
When the "188.8" symbol is continuously flashing,
the battery needs to be replaced with
an SG3 silver oxide type.
1.Slide battery cap away from unit.
2.Remove the battery using a small Phillips-
head or jeweler's screwdriver and insert new
battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
3. Carefully slide battery cap back into its place,
making sure the cap is securely fit to protect
battery from moisture.
1.Clean and properly disinfect the thermometer
according to the instructions provided.
2. Place a new or clean and undamaged probe
cover carefully over the thermometer tip.
3.Select oral, axillary or rectal as your
measurement site.
4. Press On/Off button to activate thermometer.
The digital display will show the following and
the thermometer will beep.
NOTE : Relax and wait approximately 5 minutes with your
mouth closed before taking a reading if you've just
consumed any hot or cold beverages, exercised or
smoked. This will reduce chances of possible high or low
temperature readings.
1. Place a new or clean and undamaged probe cover
carefully over the thermometer tip.
2. Place the probe tip under the tongue as near as
possible to the heat pocket. The diagram below also
shows the temperature variables by not placing the tip
in the heat pocket areas. Hold the thermometer still in
the same spot and mouth should remain closed for
most accurate reading.
3. The current temperature is shown and the °F (°C) will
continue to flash during the reading.
4. When peak temperature is reached, the °F (°C) will
stop a flashing and four quick beeps will sound.
5. To turn the unit off, press the On/Off button, otherwise
the unit will automatically shut-off after approximately
10 minutes to preserve battery life.
This is the LCD display test, which insures
all parts of the display are functioning
properly. Continue to hold the button
switch down over 2 seconds, the display
will flash alternatively °C/°F icons. Release
button on preferable mode of read-out.
This display shows the last temperature
reading after °C/°F selection.
After the display of the last measured
reading, the unit will perform a self-
calibration (standard temperature) and
display 97.7°F for about one second.
The "Lo" with the flashing °C (°F) indicates
the thermometer is ready to take a
temperature reaging (If "ERR" is
displayed, a malfunction has been
detected and thermometer will need to be
replaced.)
The best way to find out your normal body
temperature is to measure yourself when you are
feeling well. Record your readings twice a day
(early morning and late afternoon). The average
of the two readings is your normal body
temperature. Any deviation from this may indicate
an illness and you should consult a medical
professional.
This thermometer has a built-in alarm to warn
user of higher than normal temperature. If reading
exceeds 99.5°F (37.5°C) eight sets of three quick
beeps will sound.

TAKING AN ORAL TEMPERATURE
Approximate reading time: 30 seconds
NOTE : Rectal temperatures are the most accurate
method for infants and small children. Otherwise this
method should only be used when it is difficult to take an
oral or axillary measurement. Rectal temperatures are
generally 1.0°F (0.5°C) higher than oral readings. For
hygienic reasons, once thermometer is used rectally, do
not use orally.
1. Place a new or clean and undamaged probe
cover carefully over the thermometer tip.
2. Have your child lie stomach down on your lap.
3. Apply a water-soluble lubricant to the tip of the
thermometer and around rectum.
4. Hold your child still and gently insert the probe
a maximum of 1 inch into the rectum. If child
is less than 6 months old, gently insert a
maximum of 1/4 to 1/2 inch into the rectum.
5. When peak temperature is reached, the °F (°C)
will stop flashing and four quick beeps will
sound.
6. To turn the unit off, press the On/Off button,
otherwise the unit will automatically shut-off
approximately after 10 minutes to preserve
battery life.
TAKING A RECTAL TEMPERATURE
Approximate reading time: 30 seconds
NOTE : Axillary temperatures are generally 1.0°F
(0.5°C) lower than oral readings.
1. Wipe underarm area with a dry towel.
2. Place a new or clean and undamaged probe cover
carefully over the thermometer tip.
3. Place the probe tip under the arm so that the tip is
to uch ing the s kin with the t her mom ete r
perpendicular (vertical) to the body.
4. Position arm across the chest so the probe tip is
well covered by the arm. This insures the ambient
temperature does not affect the probe.
5. When peak temperature is reached, the °F (°C) will
stop flashing and four quick beeps will sound.
6. To turn the unit off, press the On/Off button,
otherwise the unit will automatically shut-off
approximately after 10 minutes to preserve battery
life.
